A Halloween celebration in Lancaster took a tragic turn early Saturday when a 19-year-old man was shot and killed outside a party.

Deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department responded to the 100 block of West Avenue I around 12:45 a.m. after reports of gunfire. When they arrived, they found the young man suffering from gunshot wounds to his upper body. Sadly, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators say a fight broke out at a nearby business hosting a Halloween party just before the shooting. While the victim was standing outside, someone opened fire and then took off before deputies arrived.
So far, there’s no description of the suspect, and detectives are still piecing together what led up to the violence.
Anyone who saw what happened or has information that could help is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500.
