LANCASTER, CA — Community members, local leaders, and public officials gathered this week to celebrate the grand opening of the You Are Enough Foundation’s new location in the Antelope Valley. Founded by Jacqueline Diaz-Fontana, the nonprofit honors the memory of her son Eric and seeks to provide education, prevention, and support for individuals and families affected by suicide.

A Vision Born From Loss
During the event, Jacqueline shared how the loss of her son Eric became the catalyst for her advocacy work. “When I first lost Eric, it broke me,” she told attendees. “I didn’t want to stop at grief—I wanted to create a space where others could find help and hope.” That vision has grown into a full-service nonprofit offering suicide prevention workshops, support groups, and free therapy sessions.
Community Support and Recognition
Representatives from the California Senate, Assemblymember Juan Carrillo’s office, the City of Palmdale, AV Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the Antelope Valley Chamber of Commerce presented certificates of recognition, praising Jacqueline’s resilience and her dedication to mental health advocacy. One guest even presented a $2,500 check to create a permanent tribute for Eric, whose memory inspires the foundation’s work.

Services and Programs
According to its website, the You Are Enough Foundation connects individuals with vital mental health resources while promoting education, awareness, and support. Programs include:
● Suicide grief support groups in English and Spanish
● Free therapy sessions and educational workshops on suicide prevention
● Scholarships for local youth engaged in mental health advocacy
● Community partnerships with schools, agencies, and nonprofits
All initiatives are designed to break the stigma around mental illness and create a supportive environment for healing.
Breaking the Silence
In her closing remarks, Jacqueline urged the audience to remember that “suicide is an illness, depression is an illness.” She led a moment of silence for those lost to suicide and invited community members, organizations, and businesses to partner with the foundation to “make noise and save lives.”
“Don’t forget you are enough,” she said. “You’re more than enough. Everybody’s loved.”
