Quartz Hill Little League 10U Softball Team Wins Southern California State Championship

QUARTZ HILL, Calif. — The Quartz Hill Little League 10U All-Star softball team is bringing a state championship back to the Antelope Valley after completing an undefeated postseason run with a 4-0 victory over Westchester Little League on Sunday.

The championship game was played at Carl E. Nielsen Park in Los Angeles, where Westchester entered the title matchup with a perfect 4-0 record in the state tournament. Quartz Hill, however, continued its dominant play on both offense and defense, shutting out the host team to claim the Southern California State Championship.

The title capped an impressive 8-0 All-Star season for Quartz Hill. Along the way, the team captured the District 51 Championship before advancing through the state tournament undefeated.

The girls were dominant throughout their postseason run. Half of their eight All-Star victories ended early under the mercy rule, while the team's defense surrendered just six total runs across five state tournament games.

The tournament, hosted by Westchester Little League and tournament director Jim Evans, took place beneath the busy flight path of nearby Los Angeles International Airport, with airplanes passing overhead throughout the games. Despite the unique setting, the Quartz Hill players remained focused, finishing their championship run in convincing fashion.

The victory marks the first time since 2022 that Quartz Hill Little League has brought a state championship back to the community.

The championship team was led by Manager Mindy Gonzalez with assistant coaches Nicole Phipps and Rayson Cacal.

The team's success was matched by overwhelming community support throughout the tournament. More than 100 family members, friends, and local supporters followed the games live through GameChanger, cheering the girls on from home, work, and even while attending other events. While many supporters were unable to make the drive to Los Angeles, several former teammates, families, and friends were in attendance to witness the championship victory in person.

For the players, coaches, and families, the state title represents more than just wins and championships—it reflects months of hard work, teamwork, and a community that rallied behind one of its own.
