ANTELOPE VALLEY, CA — The Antelope Valley Indian Museum State Historic Park invites the community to its annual Native American Celebration this weekend, October 18–19, from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. The event promises a vibrant showcase of Indigenous culture through dance, storytelling, art, and traditional foods.

What to Expect:

  • Traditional Blessing: The weekend begins with a ceremonial blessing led by Chumash/Fernandeño Tataviam Band of Mission Indians elders Ted and Dennis Garcia.

  • Live Performances: Native dancers in full regalia will perform throughout the day, sharing stories and traditions through movement.

  • Storytelling Circles: Elders and cultural leaders will host storytelling sessions that explore tribal histories and oral traditions.

  • Artisan Market: Local Native artists will display handcrafted jewelry, pottery, and textiles.

  • Kids’ Activities: Interactive stations will offer hands-on learning for children, including crafts and games.

  • Food Vendors: Enjoy fry bread, Indian tacos, and other traditional favorites.

  • Featured Artist: Nadiya Littlewarrior will be showcasing her work and engaging with visitors about the role of art in cultural preservation.
