LANCASTER, CA — A new chapter in the Antelope Valley’s craft beer story is unfolding on The BLVD. Local Craft Beer (LCB), one of the region’s most recognized independent breweries, has officially joined forces with Happy Hours Bar & Grill — blending award-winning craft beer with a laid-back, family-friendly hangout unlike anything else in town.

From Homebrew to a Regional Brand

Local Craft Beer was founded by Tyson and Katie Southworth in 2006, when a simple homebrew kit sparked a passion that would grow into a full-scale craft beer operation. What started as a converted garage brewery soon developed into a local movement. By 2013, posts of their homebrews on Instagram had built a loyal following throughout Southern California.

In the years that followed, Tyson and Katie took over a failing brewery, meticulously cleaned and restored the equipment, and began distributing their beer statewide — and eventually worldwide. At its height, LCB shipped to 11 states and 11 countries, earning a reputation as one of California’s most respected independent breweries and maintaining high ratings on the craft beer review platform Untappd.

In 2025, LCB was acquired by Nicholas Jones, owner of Happy Hours Bar & Grill. The vision: keep the beer made and sold locally while expanding its reach through Happy Hours locations. “Focusing on the local market really is the move of the future,” Jones said. “This community is what built LCB.”

Happy Hours: A Neighborhood Favorite

Happy Hours Bar & Grill has been a staple in the Antelope Valley since 2018, starting in Quartz Hill and expanding to four locations. Known for approachable pricing, a welcoming vibe, and its signature slogan — “Why limit happy hour to one hour?” — the brand has built a loyal customer base that spans generations.

For Jones, a longtime bartender and restaurant operator, the concept was about creating a neighborhood spot where people could relax, grab a drink, and feel at home.

A Unique Underground Experience

The partnership between Happy Hours and LCB centers on their Lancaster Boulevard bowling venue, which has undergone a complete transformation. The once-dark underground space has been reimagined with warm beer-inspired colors, bamboo floors, and bright lighting that creates the feeling of sunshine below street level.

While bowling is part of the draw, it’s not required. Guests can simply hang out at the 100-foot bar, lounge in one of several seating areas, or enjoy a game on TV — making the space a flexible destination for all kinds of visitors.

“People kept saying they didn’t come because they thought they had to bowl,” Southworth explained. “You don’t. Come for the beer, the food, the lounge, or the atmosphere. Bowling’s just a bonus.”

Beer That Built a Following

LCB built its name on creativity and quality — and that’s not changing. The brewery offers a wide selection of styles, including IPAs, blondes, stouts, lagers, sours, seltzers, and their crowd-favorite “Jiggle Juice” slushy-style fruit beers.

A core lineup of four beers now anchors the tap program across all Happy Hours locations:

  • Mexican Lager

  • Blonde Ale

  • West Coast IPA

  • Hazy IPA

Seasonal and experimental beers rotate through regularly, keeping the offerings fresh. And for non-beer drinkers, there’s wine and cocktails, making the space a crowd-pleaser for mixed groups.

Community at the Center

What makes this venue stand out is its welcoming, family-friendly environment. The crowd spans ages 21 to 10, and children are welcome for events and birthday parties. The team has intentionally built an elevated space with affordable pricing, offering an alternative to big-box chains without sacrificing quality. “It’s champagne on a beer budget,” Jones said. “We’ve created something that looks high-end, but is approachable for families, blue-collar workers, and everyone in between.”

Events and More

LCB and Happy Hours host a variety of live entertainment, community events, corporate functions, and private parties. The space is also a popular spot for gender reveals, teacher nights, and casual weekend hangouts. With a full food menu just steps away, it’s become a one-stop destination for both locals and visitors.
