PALMDALE, CA — A violent multi‑vehicle crash in East Palmdale late Monday night left one driver dead and several others shaken after a speeding SUV barreled through a red light, triggering a chain‑reaction collision along a busy stretch of 47th Street East.

The crash occurred on December 22, 2025, just after 9:15 p.m. Deputies from the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station were dispatched at approximately 9:17 p.m. to the intersection of 47th Street East and Avenue R‑8, a residential and commuter corridor that has seen an uptick in nighttime traffic during the holiday season.
According to preliminary details released by investigators, a male Hispanic adult driving a 2007 silver Cadillac Escalade was traveling southbound on 47th Street East at what authorities described as an “unknown high rate of speed.” As the SUV approached the intersection, the driver reportedly failed to stop for a red light.
The Escalade slammed into a 2018 silver Honda HR‑V that was making a lawful left turn onto Avenue R‑8 from the northbound lanes. The force of the impact caused the Escalade to lift off the ground, becoming airborne before crashing into a second vehicle — a 2002 green Cadillac Escalade traveling northbound in the No. 2 lane.
Still out of control, the silver Escalade continued sliding and spinning southbound, ultimately colliding with a third vehicle: a 2019 gray Honda CR‑V, also traveling northbound in the No. 2 lane.

Emergency crews arrived within minutes and transported the driver of the silver Escalade to a local hospital. Despite life‑saving efforts, he later succumbed to his injuries. The conditions of the other involved drivers were not immediately released, though deputies noted that additional injuries appeared to be non‑life‑threatening.
The intersection remained partially closed for several hours as traffic investigators documented the scene, examined vehicle debris patterns, and interviewed witnesses. Detectives are now working to determine whether impairment, distraction, or mechanical failure played any role in the crash.
Residents in the surrounding neighborhood reported hearing a loud boom followed by the sound of screeching metal. Several came outside to find debris scattered across the roadway and multiple vehicles heavily damaged.
The Palmdale Sheriff’s Station is urging anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have dash‑camera footage from the area to come forward as the investigation continues.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Palmdale Station Traffic Department at 661‑272‑2400.

Please slow down and use caution. Seems to be far too many serious accidents happening lately, especially in this area.
