PALMDALE, CA — A quiet Sunday afternoon in the high desert turned grim when a resident walking their dog stumbled upon a human skull near a junkyard in unincorporated Palmdale off 124th Street East and Pearblossom Highway. The discovery has prompted a homicide investigation by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
Deputies responded to the call around 12:22 p.m. after the dog led its owner to the remains. The area, located near Speed Motors Auto Repair and Body, is known for its remote terrain and sparse foot traffic, making the find all the more unsettling.1 2

Sheriff’s department spokesperson Miesha McClendon confirmed the skull was found in unincorporated Palmdale but did not provide further details about the quantity or condition of the remains. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office was dispatched to the scene, though they have not yet released any public findings.
This incident follows a series of disturbing discoveries in the Antelope Valley region. Over the past year, multiple cases involving unidentified remains have surfaced, raising concerns among residents and local officials about safety and law enforcement resources.
Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward. Meanwhile, forensic teams are working to identify the remains and determine the cause of death. The investigation remains ongoing.
