City of Lancaster to Celebrate Earth Day on April 11 with Community Activities and Sustainability Events

Lancaster, CA – The City of Lancaster invites the community to celebrate Earth Day on Saturday, April 11, with a variety of family-friendly activities focused on sustainability, conservation and community pride.
This year’s Earth Day celebration reflects Lancaster’s ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship and the idea that small actions can make a meaningful difference. From hands-on volunteer opportunities to recycling efforts and educational activities, the event is designed to encourage residents to take part in creating a cleaner, greener community.
Earth Day Event Details
Saturday, April 11, 2026
Activities will take place at two locations:
Forrest E. Hull Park
9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Community Mural Paint Day: Local artist AQMNI will lead volunteers, youth groups and families in painting a community mural that will also serve as a graffiti deterrent. The dogs featured in the mural were selected through a public contest and chosen by City employees.
Kids’ Activities and Educational Booths designed to engage children and families in environmental learning.
Plant Giveaway for attendees.
Green Goodie Bags distributed while supplies last.
Food Truck onsite for refreshments.
City Fleet Green Vehicle Display showcasing sustainable transportation options.
Lancaster Maintenance Yard
8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Lawnmower Exchange Program: In partnership with AVAQMD, residents can exchange gas-powered lawnmowers for cleaner electric models.
Plant Giveaway and Green Goodie Bags available to attendees while supplies last.
Recycling Center Drop-Off: Residents may bring difficult-to-dispose items for responsible recycling.
The Recycling Center will also accept:
Mattresses
Electronics
Appliances
Oil and filters
Batteries
Community Cleanup Bins: Large bins will be available for household trash, tires, construction materials, furniture, bulky items and gas-powered tools to encourage proper disposal.
In addition to attending the event, residents are encouraged to support Earth Day year-round through simple everyday actions such as properly sorting trash, recycling and organics, learning more about environmental issues and taking time to explore and appreciate Lancaster’s natural surroundings.
