Lancaster, CA — City crews, alongside local law enforcement, conducted a cleanup operation Tuesday at homeless encampments located near the corners of Avenue K and 15th Street West.

The effort involved the City of Lancaster, Lancaster Police Department, and the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, who were on site to oversee the operation and ensure it was carried out safely and in accordance with local procedures.

According to officials on scene, individuals living in the encampments were provided with a 10-day notice prior to the cleanup. The notice informed occupants that they needed to remove any personal belongings from the area before the scheduled clearing date. Officials stated the advance notice was intended to give people adequate time to collect their property and seek alternative arrangements.

Once the notice period expired, city crews moved forward with clearing the area using heavy equipment, including a bobcat or skid-steer loader and a trailer to remove debris and remaining materials. Law enforcement officers remained present during the process to maintain safety and manage traffic in the area.

City representatives indicated the cleanup was part of an ongoing effort to address public health, safety, and sanitation concerns, while also working with service providers to connect individuals experiencing homelessness with available resources.

Officials emphasized that similar operations are typically preceded by notices and outreach efforts, and residents are encouraged to report concerns through appropriate city channels.

The cleanup at Avenue K and 15th Street West was completed without reported incidents.
